The Indian Rebellion or sepoy mutiny is considered as the first war or agitation shown by the Indians over the British. The mutiny became more popular this was the first time an agitation was shown by all parts of India concurrently. Mangal Pandey and Veluthambi are few popular rebellions who actively participative in the mutiny.
It was on 10th May 1857, the mutiny took place against British army. The immediate reason of this mutiny was replaced of paper cartridges were replaced by greased cartridges. The cartridge was dipped in the fats of the cows. The soldiers should bite the cartridge to load a new rifle. British finally suppressed the mutiny using surplus military forces.
